Did you know that...?

The first known permanent photograph was taken by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 or 1827 and required an exposure of about 8 hours.
The first color photograph (in the modern sense) is attributed to James Clerk Maxwell in 1861, with a photo of a Scottish ribbon (tartan) using three separate exposures with red, green, and blue filters.
The word “photography” derives from the Greek “phōs/photós” (light) + “gráphein” (to write/to draw), so it literally means “to draw with light”.

The first flash lights in photography were not safe at all: explosive mixtures (magnesium + oxidizing compounds) were used that sometimes exploded, causing accidents.
The name “Kodak” doesn’t mean anything in particular — George Eastman chose it because it sounded good, was short, and easy to remember.
One of the first "selfies" in history was taken in 1839: Robert Cornelius photographed himself in a daguerreotype, remaining still for about 10-15 minutes.
